In the complex and ever-changing natural world, different pathogens will be invaded during the whole plant growth period. Under adverse circumstances, plants and the environment will compete with each other, adapt to each other and coordinate evolution, and gradually develop their own resistance. One of the important physiological indicators of plant synthesis function is photosynthesis, and chlorophyll plays an important role in this process. When pathogens infect plants, they often interact with chloroplasts, resulting in the disintegration of chloroplasts. Severe morbidity and even chlorophyll synthesis are blocked, and symptoms such as leaf chlorosis, yellowing or mosaicism appear. Therefore, the level of chlorophyll content can often objectively reflect the strength of the plant disease resistance. Therefore, the determination of chlorophyll content has a very important significance, you can use handheld chlorophyll meter for determination.
The powdery mildew was inoculated on the leaves of 8 different disease-resistance alfalfa cultivars. The content of chlorophyll was determined by hand-held chlorophyll meter. It was found that there was no significant difference in chlorophyll content among the different disease-resistant cultivars before inoculation, but the chlorophyll content of the cultivars after inoculation with powdery mildew was not observed. There was a significant change in the content of the chlorophyll content of the susceptible cultivar, which was significantly greater than that of the resistant cultivar, and the chlorophyll content was significantly reduced with the increase of the morbidity.
By using the handheld chlorophyll meter to determine the chlorophyll content of plants, we have made some progress in research on the relationship between chlorophyll content and plant disease resistance in the past decade. Existing studies have shown that the chlorophyll content in many plants is closely related to various disease resistances of plants, but some plant resistances are not related to chlorophyll content in some diseases and some stages. However, the physiological and molecular mechanisms of the effects of chlorophyll content on plant disease resistance remain to be further revealed.
