Waters Corporation (NYSE: WAT) launched CORTECS 2.7μm silica solid core particle column products on May 12th, setting a new benchmark for HPLC column performance. At the same time, the new product also expanded the CORTECS column family. Waters introduced the first 1.6μm solid core particle series in 2013. Waters displayed the latest column products at the just-concluded HPLC 2014 conference.
CORTECS 2.7-μm silica-based solid-core particle columns are designed for scientists seeking to maximize LC utilization, which can operate at lower pressures and provide high column performance. This feature provides scientists with more convenience, either by selecting a longer column on HPLC for improved resolution, or by using a higher flow rate to speed up the analysis time and increase throughput.
Waters now offers 48 unique column models, including C18+, C18, and HILIC bonded phases, ready for immediate availability worldwide.
"With the introduction of the CORTECS 2.7-μm column, Waters can increase the resolution, speed, and sensitivity of existing chromatographic laboratories," said Michael Yelle, vice president of the Waters consumables business unit. "Advanced CORTECS 2.7-μm solid-core particle design combines Waters' 40-plus years of column manufacturing experience to provide its column products with industry-leading chromatographic performance, batch-to-batch reproducibility, reliability, and quality assurance to meet users. Waters has always been high expectations.
The CORTECS 2.7μm column is a good addition to the Ultrasonic LC (UPLC) Waters CORTECS 1.6μm column introduced in 2013. The CORTECS 2.7μm column method can be seamlessly transferred to CORTECS 1.6μm columns, allowing scientists working in HPLC analysis to meet future development needs and seamlessly convert HPLC methods to UPLC.
CORTECS C18+ columns provide excellent peak shape, unique selectivity, and ultra-low bond-phase loss for basic compounds, and are particularly well-suited for the development of liquid formic methods.
The CORTECS C18 column is a general-purpose, high-efficiency, reversed-phase column designed to provide balanced retention of acidic, basic, and neutral analytes at medium-to-low pH conditions. CORTECS C18 columns provide excellent resolution and retention for complex mixtures.
CORTECS HILIC columns are designed for high performance columns that retain strongly polar analytes and are based on the principle of hydrophilic interaction chromatography (HILIC). In addition, it will also bring other conveniences for analysts, such as increasing the mass spectrometry response, using common sample preparation techniques such as solid phase extraction (SPE), liquid-liquid extraction (LLE), and protein precipitation (PPT) to obtain organic extracts. Direct injection.
