Thermal decay of automotive braking systems such as suction trucks

The thermal decay of a vehicle braking system such as a suction truck is also referred to as braking constancy. It refers to the extent to which the braking effect can be maintained when the brake temperature rises significantly during a sudden braking or continuous braking. Brake consistency also includes the degree of retention of braking performance after the brake system is flooded, ie, resistance to water decay.
In fact, the braking process is a process that transforms kinetic energy into heat energy. If the heat is slow, it will affect the performance of the braking system. However, since the thermal energy in braking cannot be dissipated immediately, any braking system will always have a thermal decay phenomenon. Any advanced braking system cannot avoid the phenomenon of thermal decay, but only to a different degree. The braking system with better performance is only a small phenomenon of thermal decay, and thermal decay is one of the most important indicators to measure braking performance.
According to international standards, it is recommended to brake 15 times continuously at a certain vehicle speed. The final braking performance should be no less than 60% of the cold brake performance, which is normal (under the condition that the brake pedal has the same force).
After foreign laws and regulations require the brake system to be flooded, it only takes 5-15 times to return to the original braking performance, which is normal. Nowadays some of the more advanced models have been equipped with a "braking self-drying system" that can automatically clear the flooding in the braking system.
