A few days ago, the “China Machinery 500 Research Report†was published in Beijing in 2007: FAW and Dongfeng ranked among the top two of China's Top 500 Machinery Enterprises respectively. Among the top 10 companies, with the exception of Shanghai Electric, which ranks third, and CIMC Group, which ranks ninth, the remaining eight are all automobile manufacturers. The press conference also announced the list of “Top 500 Machinery Enterprises in the Worldâ€, and 60 companies in China were selected. FAW, Dongfeng, and Shanghai Electric ranked in the top 100. They ranked 64th, 81st, and 98th respectively. Most other companies ranked 300th.
In the past 20 years, Dongfeng has repeatedly become a star in China's machinery industry: among them, it became the number one tax player in the machinery industry in 1986. It ranked first in the six major industries in 1991 and ranked the 22nd among the top 500 world famous brands in 2005.
