The research group headed by Prof. Kong Qingchi of China University of Petroleum (East China) has successfully developed a brominated triazine flame retardant production technology. Compared with the technology commonly used in China, this technology has high conversion rate of tribromophenol, low production cost and good product chroma. In particular, the use of a unique non-aqueous solvent system in China completely solved the problem of hydrolysis of cyanuric chloride.
The technology is divided into tribromophenol production and bromine triazine production process. No waste gas and waste slag are produced in the two processes. The new process has mild reaction conditions, no side reactions, and easy control. The obtained product has stable quality and high melting point, which can improve the product's flame-retardant efficiency and make the product have good thermal stability and UV stability.
It is understood that brominated triazine flame retardant is a new bromine/nitrogen synergistic flame retardant, which is superior to ultraviolet radiation and light resistance, and is an upgraded substitute product of tetrabromo and decabromo. Its white appearance, large molecular weight, complex structure, good thermal stability and electrical properties, and excellent lightfastness. Because the product does not contain free bromine, it can avoid adverse effects on the processing equipment and the environment. It can make the processing equipment safer and the product performance is more excellent. It is especially suitable for plastic products that need to be processed at higher temperatures, such as ABS, etc. Widely used in electronic components, audio-visual equipment, instrumentation, insulation equipment and other production areas.
