Shangchai Power: Green Power Wins in the Future

On October 11th, 2009, at the media meeting of “Environmental Power Pioneer Drives a Better Life – Asia-Pacific Gas Vehicle Organization China Tour and Shangchai Power Environmental Protection Tour”, we met Mr. Xiong Weiming, the long-lost general manager of Shangchai Power. In a more than one-hour interview with reporters, he clearly explained the process of R&D, application, and promotion of Shanghai Diesel's natural gas engines, and expressed great confidence in the development prospects of natural gas engines.

The Asia-Pacific Natural Gas Vehicle Organization's China tour exhibition was jointly organized by the Asia-Pacific Natural Gas Vehicle Organization (ANGVA) and Shanghai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. It was opened in Shenzhen, known as the "Pioneer City," which lasted nearly two weeks in Tianjin. End your visit to China and then travel to the next stop in South Korea. Also present at the event were Mr. Lee Giok Seng, CEO of ANGVA, Mr. Gang Gang, Deputy General Manager of Shangchai Power, and Shangchai users and more than 30 media friends from home and abroad. Throughout the conference, the concept of “green environmental protection” is embodied, and natural gas engines will undoubtedly become one of the new forces for building an environment-friendly and energy-saving society in China.

Pioneer, decade sword

As the sole official partner of ANGVA Green Highways Project in China, Shanghai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. is inseparable from the research and development investment and application of Shanghai Diesel Engine Co., Ltd., which has long been dedicated to natural gas and other alternative energy engine sectors; and it was acquired in the field of natural gas engines. Its outstanding achievements and leadership position also made it the best choice for this event.

Shangchai Power is an enterprise that developed natural gas engines earlier in the country. As early as 1999, Shangchai started research and development of natural gas and other alternative energy engines. In 10 years, Shangchai Power has made remarkable achievements in the field of natural gas engines. The product line covers 5.3. ~10.5L, power from 118 to 245kW. In particular, the success of SC8DT and SC9DT products has laid a leading position for Shanghai Diesel Engine in the field of natural gas engines. Currently, the market share of this series of products in natural gas engines has exceeded 80%.

Shangchai regards "quality, technology and service" as the company's three core competitive advantages. Natural gas engines are the embodiment of Shangchai’s technological superiority. Standing on the new platform, Shangchai Company has established the strategic goal of maintaining the supporting field of construction machinery while maintaining its position as the main supplier of construction machinery. To take this opportunity, Xiong Chong also reiterated the positioning of Shangchai, which is to use the idea of addition to accelerate the development of the engine vehicle market. Matching construction machinery has always been the strength of Shangchai, and it is necessary to further increase the use of Shangchai in commercial vehicles on this basis. The pace of development. With years of technological superiority and scientific and technological strength, it has gradually developed into an independent supplier of multi-field diesel engines with industry-leading production and sales scale and technology level. In this process, Shanghai Diesel Power will also contribute more and better environmental protection and new energy power to the society.

At the beginning of 2008, Shangchai Power was integrated into SAIC Motor, relying not only on its own complete diesel product system, but also becoming an important member of Shanghai Automotive's core components system for commercial vehicles. The strong demand from Chongqing Hongyan heavy trucks, Nanjin Yuejin light trucks, Shanghai Shenwo buses, and Shanghai Huizhong buses owned by SAIC Group has laid a solid foundation for Shanghai Diesel's rejuvenation in the automotive diesel engine market.

Foreign "car", China "heart"

The data shows that natural gas accounts for 25% of the world's energy consumption. It is predicted that in 2015, the world's natural gas production will exceed that of petroleum, and over 30% of the total energy structure. In China, natural gas accounts for only 2.5% of energy consumption, which is far lower than the world average and is also lower than the average level of 8.8% in Asia. This means that China's natural gas energy utilization is still at a relatively low level, and there is still a lot of The development of space.

In the course of the interview, Bear always proudly told everyone that many luxury buses abroad, even with the logo of internationally renowned brands, actually had the natural gas engine of Shangchai. In countries where natural gas engines such as Thailand are widely used, many newly-purchased luxury buses by bus companies will take the lead in unloading the original "heart" of the bus and replace it with a "heart". In Thailand, more than half of buses use natural gas engines. In 2005, Shangchai began to explore the Thai market, and only 20 cars were used in trials. Although the local gas supply was not yet stable at the time, the Shangchai engine won recognition from users for its reliable performance and considerate service. This will also lay the foundation for Shangchai's natural gas engine to occupy an absolutely dominant position in the Thai market.

General Bear calculated an account for the user, although the purchase cost of a natural gas engine is higher than that of a diesel engine, but generally the heavy truck or passenger car can recover the refit fee within seven to eight months of operation, and in the subsequent operation process. It can save users a considerable amount of money. This is why many foreign passenger cars will choose natural gas engines as their motivation.

Natural gas engine or will apply construction machinery

Compared with traditional gasoline engines and diesel engines, natural gas engines have obvious advantages. According to Dr. Shangchao’s introduction, the cost advantage is that the price of natural gas is cheaper; the technical advantages are easier to achieve than the diesel engines, and they are more environmentally friendly. The disadvantage is that there are few related parts and components companies for natural gas engines, and the cost for one-time purchase is relatively high. He said frankly that with the increase in emission standards, the cost of natural gas engines under the same emissions requirements will gradually approach that of diesel engines. And with the completion of natural gas filling equipment infrastructure, it will also provide users with more convenient services.

In China, a natural gas development framework consisting of four gas sources, West-to-East Gas Transmission, Landing Air, Overseas Import, and Liquefied Natural Gas, has been preliminarily formed. It is predicted that by 2020, China's domestic pipeline natural gas consumption will reach more than 200 billion m3, accounting for the entire energy composition will increase from the current 2.5% to 2.6% to 7% to 10%, which means that natural gas engines will have a broader development space. At present, natural gas engines above 8L are mainly supplied for city buses and heavy trucks, and they are concentrated in the Western China market where the gas supply is relatively abundant.

When talking about the application of more natural gas engines in trucks and passenger cars, whether it is suitable for construction machinery vehicles, Xiong said that at present, China has not started to do so, but Shangchai has already done a matching test with Xiagong, and the equipment will Sold to foreign countries such as Thailand.

In China's power market, Shang Chai was a pioneer in technology: from designing and manufacturing China's first fully domestically-produced 6135 diesel engine in 1958, to the first sounding rocket engine, and the first domestic naval boat The engine off the assembly line, the first domestically produced internal-combustion engine power locomotive, and Shang Chai continue to fill the gap in China's power. After half a century later, Shang Chai once again won the top spot in the natural gas engine field. We also look forward to Shangchai being able to write more and more exciting chapters for China's power.

Iron Alloy Powder

Iron-based laser cladding powders are used in the laser cladding process, which is a technique used to apply a protective coating or build up a desired shape on a metal surface. These powders consist of iron as the main component, along with other alloying elements to enhance specific properties.

Iron-based laser cladding powders typically have a controlled particle size distribution and composition to ensure optimal performance during the laser cladding process. They are designed to have good flowability and excellent metallurgical bonding with the substrate material.

The laser cladding process involves melting the iron-based powder using a high-energy laser beam, which is directed onto the metal surface. The molten powder then solidifies and forms a metallurgically bonded layer with the substrate. This layer can provide improved wear resistance, corrosion resistance, or other desired properties to the metal surface.

Iron-based laser cladding powders are commonly used in industries such as aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, and manufacturing, where there is a need for high-performance coatings or repair of damaged components. They offer advantages such as precise control over the coating thickness, minimal heat input, and reduced dilution with the substrate material.

Overall, iron-based laser cladding powders play a crucial role in the laser cladding process, enabling the creation of high-quality coatings and repair of metal components with improved performance and longevity.
