Raw materials are not traditional parts, but are engines that a Taiwan has already used. Before it entered the production line, it was covered with oil stains and broken old ones. When it came out, it was clean and bright, like a new machine. When reporters came to an interview with domestic famous engine manufacturer Weichai Power Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Weichai), a production line different from the traditional sense was full of curiosity.
It turns out that this is a new production line newly built in Weichai. They also have a special name: remanufacturing.
The so-called remanufacturing is to restore the used products to the same production process flow as the original products with technical performance and product quality, that is, mainly used industrial products such as mechanical and electrical products (equipment) as raw materials, and basically does not change the product structure and material quality. Under the circumstances, the use of high-tech cleaning technology, repair technology or the use of new materials, new technologies, specialization, bulk repair and transformation, making the product in the main technical performance and safety and quality can be the same as the same original product The standard requirements.
"Overseas, remanufacturing has been a history of nearly 60 years. At present, the United States and Germany are the world leaders in this regard. For example, Caterpillar Co., Ltd., the world's largest producer of construction machinery and mining equipment, is 70% Profits come from remanufacturing," said Li Jiajia, deputy general manager of Weichai Power (Weifang) Remanufacturing Co., Ltd., “In China, the rise of remanufacturing is a matter of recent years. The remanufacturing of auto parts currently belongs to the country’s preliminary pilot. One of the industries."
On March 21, 2008, China's auto parts remanufacturing pilot work was formally initiated. The National Development and Reform Commission has identified 14 companies to carry out pilot work on auto parts remanufacturing. Among them are China FAW, Anhui Jianghuai, and Chery's three automobile production companies and 11 pilot remanufacturing enterprises including Jinan Fuqiang, Weichai, and Yuchai.
As pioneers and promoters of China's remanufacturing industry, these 14 companies have also taken on the responsibility of “first to eat crabs†while ushering in new development opportunities. With China’s remanufacturing industry just starting up, the first crab to eat will face all kinds of challenges.
Since it is an emerging technology, where are the technical difficulties and challenges of remanufacturing?
"The biggest difficulty is that every engine you recycle is different, but when you finally leave the factory, the quality requirements are the same," explains Li Jiajia. For example, if traditional manufacturing can regard the process of raw materials to the whole machine as starting from scratch and eventually becoming one, then remanufacturing starts from zero and ends at one. Due to the inconsistency of its raw materials, it has variables and uncertainties from the zero point to the first, which also puts new tests and higher requirements on technology.
Li Jiajia pointed out that in the daily use, the loss of each component of the engine is actually not the same, which causes some parts of an engine to be easy to wear, short service life; some places are not easy to wear and have a long service life. Often an engine cannot be used, but some parts have been “strikesâ€, and many parts can still be “job-freeâ€. In order to increase the reusability of parts that are not easy to wear, remanufacturing technology has emerged globally.
Xu Binshi, one of China's earliest remanufacturers and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, pointed out that the market prospect of the remanufacturing industry is very large, mainly reflected in the aspects of resource efficiency, environmental protection efficiency, and social benefit. Remanufacturing projects can save a lot of materials and energy. Taking the engine as an example, the energy consumption of the remanufactured engine is only half that of the engine. The labor value is 2/3 of the production, and the material consumption is only 20% of the production.
Li Feng, general manager of Weichai Power (Weifang) Remanufacturing Co., Ltd., told reporters that Weichai's remanufactured engine has three major features: the same quality as the new machine, the same performance as the new machine, and the same warranty period as the new machine. The company also has its own three major advantages: technical cooperation with the United States SRC Corporation; top-notch imported equipment, high starting point, high standards; 2700 repair stations across the country.
Since the remanufactured products were reprocessed, remanufacturing technology was once compared with the overhaul technology of the machine, causing misunderstandings. "Compared with ordinary overhaul technology, the engine's remanufacturing technology is not completely on a scale, nor is it completely the same." Li Feng said, "Compared with ordinary overhaul technology, the quality of remanufacturing technology is guaranteed and performance Guaranteed and long service period of three guarantees."
Li Feng pointed out that compared with ordinary overhaul technology, the remanufacturing of the engine is first of all quality assurance. The remanufacturing of the engine is the complete dismantling of the old engine into a single part, and the separation and measurement of all the parts; all parts are cleaned and tested with special equipment, and reworked or replaced the failed parts; the parts processing is remanufactured exclusively. Equipment, to ensure the part size accuracy and position accuracy. At the same time, the performance of remanufacturing is also more assured. The assembly of remanufactured products is a process of restoring quality to a new product in a comprehensive manner. Product consistency is good.
In contrast, ordinary overhaul technology only disassembles old engine failure locations, and the hidden quality problems cannot be eliminated; there is no special equipment for cleaning and testing, and the cleanliness requirements cannot be guaranteed. Only wear parts and faulty parts are replaced, and implied quality cannot be eliminated. Failure; parts processing equipment is simple, can not guarantee the part size accuracy and position accuracy.
It is understood that from January to May 2009, Weichai has cumulatively produced 420 remanufactured engines. Since the first batch of remanufactured engines were sold in June 2008, the company has established a quality tracking system. According to the current feedback, there are no problems with the remanufactured engines. In the face of broad market prospects, Weichai Remanufacturing Company planned the "151 Project," which was to complete 1,000 units in 2009, 5,000 units in 2010 and 10,000 units in 2011.
“At present, with the continuous improvement of remanufacturing technology and the continuous accumulation of applications, the formulation of relevant standards for engine remanufacturing in China has also been put on the agenda. Weichai is also actively participating in the formulation of standards,†said Li Feng.
